What a fun town to visit. We arrived on a Saturday. Our campground had a haunted house that included real people to scare you. I was plenty scared! They also had a zombie garden, a potluck dinner and kids trick or treating among the campers. So fun to be able to celebrate Halloween! Larry and Pam arrived later that evening.
We went to Silver Dollar City early the next day. This was the last day of the fall festival. Pumpkins littered the grounds! Some of the pumpkins were real and a number of them were fake – it was hard to tell on some of them. We attended many of the shows that were presented throughout the park. I couldn’t believe how hilly the park is. Having been to ValleyFair, Disney or Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio all of which are flat and easy walking, I wasn’t expecting the steep hills!
We went to SDC in order to get into Marvel cave. Turns out the brothers that own SDC started with the cave and have a 99 year lease to provide entrance to the cave. These brothers have developed the cave and park over a number of years. We saw the follies show, many musical shows and enjoyed the fall festival, glassblowing, taffymaking.
Monday we rode on the Redneck Comedy Bus Tour. What a fun way to see the town! We met “Sticks” a local drummer and heard parts of his story of being saved by an angel. Brian Duvall has an amazing story of being rescued from an awful accident with a lawnmower. Brian plays in many different shows in town. He invited us to the MJ show where he is the drummer. We also attended the church he attends.
The shows we attended Dean Z as Elvis, David at the Light and Sound Theater, MJ the Michael Jackson concert that toured Europe, Illusion Show and the Dolly Parton Stampede.
After Larry and Pam left we found the waterfall, went to The Million Dollar Quartet and On Fire with Jerry Lee Lewis.
Neil Diamond Tribute Show, Million Dollar Quartet, On Fire, Jerry Lee Lewis Show Brian Duvall (Sticks) is the drummer.
