So it is the tallest spot on the eastern seaboard. 1540’ may not seem tall, but, this is in an area where sea level is the prominent height!
We were fortunate and were able to secure two different evening entrance passes. Online timed entrance passes are the only way to access the road up the mtn. While we tried to get sunrise time slots those are rare and difficult to obtain.
Granite is everywhere. Pine, fir or and spruce trees make the air smell incredible.

Three pix of moonrise at Thunderhole and Sunrise at the top of Cadillac Mtn. We got the permit that allowed us to get up at 4am to venture to the top of the mountain. Yes, it was a foggy, cloudy morning so I'm glad I shot the pink pix early on our visit. The sun itself never appeared through the clouds.
The moonrise was spectacular! It's from a different vantage point.
