We left mn today with a stop at Winnebago Service Center in Forest River, Iowa. Remember Kevin said something’s may still break down even if we have a new rig, yeah, true. We had the mc in for warranty work in Shakopee and they confirmed the house batteries are shot. The batteries are out of the manufacturer warranty since the mc sat on the sales floor for more than a year. Shakopee said they had to get authorization and hadn’t gotten that. So we stopped at the factory. We may not get in, but, it is worth a shot. The batteries don’t last more than four hours.
Anyway, turns out Clear Lake, Iowa is 30 minutes away. We stopped at the Buddy Holly plane crash site, which also has the Don McClean
parking lot. Amazing place to see.
The town of Clear Lake was having its first of the season Thursday night Fun night. The stores were open the street was lined with classic cars on one end and food trucks four blocks down at the other end of Main Street. A band, The Mockingbirds played while some danced and others listened sitting in lawn chairs in the street.
We had chocolate from a candy and ice cream shop. We had a tasty lobster roll from the Norseman food trucks. We arrived too late for the live foosball games. It looked like a skating rink but had all of these bars going across. The event seemed very successful as the street and park were packed. The town is on the edge of a beautiful lake. Well worth a visit.
