We happened onto a great Dive-In Theater on a boat! Diver Ed suits up in a dry suit, mask with a microphone and speaker and has the kids on board help push him into the water. While he is underwater, he talks about what he sees and what he is collecting. His wife tells us about the different sea creatures Ed is likely to find. He brings his bag of specimens up to the boat and grabs an underwater camera with lights and Mini Ed who he introduced to all the people on the boat. That way everyone has a chance to understand the scale of what we are seeing. The camera is hooked up to a video projector which puts the image on a screen that has dark shades around it. All of the passengers, about 50 people watch as Diver Ed startles fish, looks for lobsters and collects sea stars ( no longer called star fish as they are not a fish) sea cucumbers and crabs. How amazing to see crabs, lobsters, barnacles, sea stars, rock fish and other water creatures in their habitat! Diver Ed brings a variety of specimens onboard, explains about each one and then gives everyone a chance to handle the creatures before they are released back into the ocean.

This boat was specially built for the program Diver Ed offers - Dive-In Theater. Live views while Diver Ed looks for sea creatures.
