Well, we were sure it would be very busy in Bar Harbor for the fireworks, we have run into long lines of cars there. We took a drive along a couple peninsula's during the afternoon. We found a bandshell where a local band held a concert, we found a town picnic just wrapping up on Sorrento point and stopped to look at the view. Kevin started talking to the few people left and I took some pix. One of the gentleman came to me at the car and commented that I was a saint. He had heard Kevin say he got up at 6 am to go play pickleball, and that I would at times get up early for the hikes Kev wanted to do. This gentleman suggested that since the car was an anniversary present to me, I ought to just drive off and leave Kevin there talking with other locals. I was tempted, but acknowledged that I had recently misplaced my set of keys so I would have to wait for Kevin.
We then continued on down the road to Schoodic point which is part of Acadia NP, although not physically connected to the rest of the park. We visited the Rockefeller Hall on the grounds of Schoodic Institute. They operate a science and conservation study program.
After returning to camp for dinner we headed back out to the Town Green in Sorrento to watch the fireworks. Bar Harbor was across the water about 7 miles away. Well, fireworks from that distance can't be seen very well and can't be heard at all. I've included a few shots that I did get. The little boys sitting on the rocks next to us were not impressed and Dad left with them after a few minutes of the show.
