Well, this may not appeal to all of you, but we visited the town where I spent my elementary years. What a wonderful place to grow up. We were three blocks from Greenwood Lake. Most of the homes were summer homes for New Yorkers. This was an idyllic place to grow up.
The house has been updated and the two side lots sold off and they have houses on them.
The fence we had is gone, it was rock with two boards above it. I remember my sister and I painting it one summer. The roads seemed really small. I remember my dad driving the station wagon with the tailgate down, we would head to the A&W with the 8 track blaring Herb Alpert playing V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N. The mc barely fit on the road.
We went to ShopRite the local grocery store. This store was built on a field of forsythia when I was a kid. I loved that huge field of yellow flowers. The store has expanded and the Atlas 5&10 where we bought our 45rpm records.
Yeah, while there are some changes, the township is a watershed for NYC so that does limit development.
We drove along the small roads along Greenwood Lake NY. We had a delightful visit in town.
